La Roche-Bernard

La Roche-Bernard is located on the southern border of Morbihan. The site is not affected by tides yet has a strong maritime identity. It is here that Richelieu had “La Couronne” built; the first three-deck vessel of the Royale (French Royal Navy).

La Roche-Bernard is a “Petite Cité de Caractère” (town of historical interest) and borrows its name from a Viking leader who used it as a hideout. Enjoy the charm of the well-preserved historical town houses along the path to the town centre (15th - 16th century).

A gourmet stopover, it has one of the best restaurants in France - why not go there by boat? And when you have to leave the marina, you have the luxury of choice: return to the sea or sail upstream towards Redon and, from there, sail to St-Malo by the Ille-et-Rance canal, which crosses Rennes and the whole of Brittany.
